FAQs

What is a postpartum doula?

The word “doula” is rooted in “mothering the mother”. With that in mind, we do what we can to support the birthing person. The most commonly known doulas are labor doulas, who are non-medical professional support persons in any type of birthing space. A postpartum doula comes into the family’s home after the baby is born, to support the family by taking care of the baby, educating the family, providing lactation support, and doing light housekeeping if needed. A doula is another member of your professional care team, who will also look out for signs of Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADS), and, in providing support, will try to lessen the effects or occurrences of those PMADS.

What is a trauma coach?

A trauma coach is an additional member of your mental health team. As your therapist works on past and present with you, a trauma coach will focus on present and future, and helping you move through the trauma toward a place of healing. This is done by working through different coping mechanisms, and coming up with achievable goals together, to gradually work towards being able to function and thrive, despite your past experiences.

Do you work with other doulas?

Yes! Although you have found my independent page, I do work with teams of trusted doulas, like Jewell Chiropractic and Itsabelly. This means I typically have backup should I ever need it!

Can I book a virtual coaching appointment?

Yes! We can book an appointment over zoom, in the comfort of your own home, or in an office space.

Can I have a postpartum doula if I’m nursing?

Absolutely! As a postpartum doula I am able to assist with nursing. If you book overnight hours, my plan is typically to change the baby before bringing them to you, and then burping them once you’re done nursing, so that you can focus on going back to sleep!

Are you comfortable with cloth diapers?

Yes! I used cloth diapers with my own babies, and I was a cloth diaper educator during my 2 years of working in a baby boutique.

I need help with my carrier, is that something you’re able to help with?

Yes! I am a babywearing educator, so I am able to assist you in troubleshooting your carrier and improving your babywearing relationship.
